R.D. stands for Récemment Dégorgé (Recently Disgorged). The 2008 vintage is aged exceptionally long on lees (14 years) and is the first R.D. aged in the '1846' Bollinger bottle. Bollinger produces most of its own grapes, with Pinot Noir representing 60% of vineyards.
