Interesting facts
The wine is named after the 17th century Gaun family, original owners of the Löwengang estate. It is made from Chardonnay grapes grown in soils rich in dolomitic limestone around Magrè, South Tyrol. The wine emphasizes salinity and tension, with a portion fermented on whole grapes to incorporate tannins from skins and stems.
